Hi-Tech has 33 Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) approvals to date; 11 products are currently under review with the FDA with a brand market value of approximately $1.6B. Products under review include sterile ophthalmic solutions, oral solutions and suspensions. In FY 2006, Hi-Tech's R&D spending was over $3.3mm. The Company has approximately twenty products in various stages of development. The program includes oral solutions and suspensions, sterile ophthalmic solutions, products for inhalation and nasal sprays, with addressable market of approximately $2 B.
FOCUS ON DIABETES
The Company's Health Care Products Division (HCP) develops and markets products helping people with diabetes live healthier lives. The diabetes marketplace presents enormous opportunities for the Company. There are 17 millions people with diabetes in the US , and 800,000 new cases are registered every year. HCP is widely viewed as the leader in the over the counter business targeting the diabetic consumer: the Diabetic Tussin ® line of products consistently ranks number one among sugar free cough & cold remedies. Company's fastest growing brand is the DiabetiDerm ® line lead by DiabetiDerm ® Foot Cream with L-Arginine. HCP plans to add new products to the line targeting specific dermatological and podiatric conditions in people with diabetes and expand its reach through an aggressive telemarketing campaign and through promotion directly to podiatrists and dermatologists.
